Cathedral View Town House is a Georgian merchant's house dating from 1734, situated on the historic 'Gilesgate' - the main route of pilgrims
travelling to Durham Cathedral to pay homage at the tomb of St Cuthbert (c634 - 687).
At one time this was the only dry route into the historic settlement that has now become a World Heritage Site.
Many of our guests still come to visit the cathedral which is regarded as one of the finest examples of Norman architecture. We are also popular with relatives of students at the prestigious Durham University as we are in the city centre and close to all of the colleges. Our location and facilities mean that we are the first choice for business travellers who prefer the informality of a guest house and appreciate the quality and wide choice of our mouthwatering and award-winning breakfasts.
Female guests often tell us that they stay with us because they can relax in the safe atmosphere of our home with a wide choice of restaurants within three minutes
walk.
